Some women's activists call the device regressive, putting the onus on women to address a male problem ... it "goes back to the concept of chastity belts" and would incite injured rapists to kill their victims.
This is no chastity belt. I would not want to keep a volunatry tool from all women simply because we would rather change the behavior of some men. I worry about inciting violence, but if it truly is extremely painful, it would give the vitim time to get away.
